"We have been led this off-season by our three returning starters in
Hanna Crymble,
Josie Larkins and
Rose Caverly," said head coach
Alisa Kresge. "These three along with our returners have helped set the tone for our six newcomers. We have six freshmen, and they have brought great energy and competitiveness to our program every day. With a very young roster, we are excited to be challenged with our non-conference schedule which will help us prepare for America East play."
Maine, the two-time defending tournament champion, was picked unanimously by the opposing head coaches to finish first. Stony Brook, UAlbany, and Binghamton were selected to round-out the coveted top-four positions. This year will be the second season on the women's side where the entire America East tournament will take place on campus sites with the higher-seeded school hosting each game throughout the championship.
For the second straight season Crymble has been selected to the Preseason All-Conference Team. Last season in conference play Crymble led the Catamounts with 11.7 points-per game. In addition, she led the conference in free throw shooting at 87.5%. She missed just 15 times in 120 attempts. The 120 trips to the charity stripe was the second highest total in America East.
"Hanna is an extremely skilled post player who has developed and proven herself as a multidimensional scorer," said Kresge. "In each of Hanna's three previous seasons, teams have game-planned against her. This has challenged her to become more versatile. It has been impressive to watch Hanna continue to grow and I can't wait to see her thrive in her senior year."
Vermont opens the 2019-20 campaign on Tuesday, November 5 at Dartmouth. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Hanover. The Catamounts home opener is Sunday, November 17 as they host Bryant at 2 p.m.
