COACH'S QUOTE
"I thought we did some really good things tonight in the offensive zone; I thought the other two zones were not great for us," head coach Kevin Sneddon said. "We weren't great in the neutral, we were not good in our zone, and we certainly didn't defend their rushes very well. We started off so poorly … in the opening minutes of the game we give them a gift and I thought that was the feeling of the night, I don't know that they had a lot of hard-earned goals."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Boston College freshman Mike Hardman intercepted a Catamount pass and rifled a far-side shot under the blocker of Stefanos Lekkas (29 saves) for the first period lead.
  • Boston College captain David Cotton tallied his 100th collegiate point to make it 2-0 Eagles early in the second period. Cotton's goal came on BC's second power play chance of the middle frame and fourth of the game.
  • Joey Cipollone found the back of the net on the power play to pull Vermont within a goal at 5:25 of the second period. Cipollone collected the loose puck from a blocked shot and snuck a shot through Spencer Knight (27 saves). Andrew Lucas and Max Kaufman assisted on the goal.
  • Logan Hutsko made it 3-1 at 10:03 of the second as he cut through the Catamount defense and slid a shot under Lekkas for his fourth of the season.
  • BC freshman Alex Newhook deflected a centering pass from Hardman past Lekkas for his fifth of the season to make it 4-1 BC just 1:37 into the third. An empty-net goal with 1:02 left in the third period made the score 5-1.
GAME NOTES
  • Cipollone's second period goal marked Vermont's first power play goal of the season.
  • UVM was tagged with seven minor penalties while BC picked up six minor infractions. In total, 26 penalty minutes were called between the two teams. The Catamounts went 1-for-6 on the power play while the Eagles went 1-for-7 with their man-advantage opportunities
  • Boston College won the shots battle, 34-28, headlined by the second period, where the Eagles fired 17 shots on goal.
