MEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
The Vermont Catamounts (1-8-1, 0-6-1 HEA) hit the road to take on the Arizona State Sun Devils (6-4-0, Independent) for the first time in a Thanksgiving weekend series at Oceanside Ice Arena in Tempe, Arizona.

SCOUTING THE SUN DEVILS
Arizona State enters the weekend series with a 6-4-0 overall record. Â The Sun Devils split series with Mercyhurst (Oct. 5-6) and Alaska Fairbanks (Nov. 8-9), swept Air Force (Oct. 18-19) and Quinnipiac (Nov. 1-2), and lost twice to Minnesota State (Oct. 11-12).

Junior Johnny Walker leads the team with six goals and is second on the team with 13 points. Junior James Sanchez leads ASU in points (15) and assists (13).

Sophomore Evan Debrouwer has started nine of ten games between the pipes. He ranks 32nd-nationally with a 2.41 goals against average and 29th-nationally with a .916 save percentage. Â Debrouwer is one of 13 goalies in the NCAA with two or more shutouts.

Last season, Arizona State became the first independent team to make the NCAA tournament since Alaska Anchorage in 1992. Head coach Greg Powers, a former ACHA goalie at ASU, is in his 12th season as head coach of the program and fifth since ASU made the jump to Division I.

UNCHARTED TERRITORY
Vermont heads 2,192 miles from Burlington to face the Sun Devils this weekend. It marks the longest trip of the season for the Catamounts and third longest in program history, behind Anchorage, Alaska (3,186) and Belfast, Northern Ireland (2,974).
BERETTA ON THE BOARD
Thomas Beretta matched a career-high in assists and points with his two helper performance at Boston University (Nov. 23). It marked the first points in Green & Gold for the Michigan Tech transfer.

EVERS HEARD OF HIM?
Christian Evers set a career-high with his third goal of the season last Saturday at Boston University (Nov. 23). Evers is tied for the team lead in goals in 2019-20. He had scored two goals in each of the last two seasons. Four of his eight career goals have come on the power play.

He leads the team with 32 shots on goal this season and needs just 14 more to match his career-high of 46 from 2018-19.

ALVARO ON THE CUSP
Senior
Matt Alvaro enters the weekend with 99 career games played. He will become the 164th Catamount to reach the milestone, joining nearly half of all former Catamounts in reaching the milestone.

BROVEMBER TO BENEFIT UVM CANCER CENTER | Donate
The Catamounts have partnered with the UVM Cancer Center to participate in the University's Brovember fundraiser. Vermont is raising money through the month of November for the UVM Cancer Center, with a goal of $5,000 raised.
