ATLANTA – UVM men's basketball star Anthony Lamb has been named to the 2020 Citizen Naismith Trophy Men's Player of the Year Watch List. The Atlanta Tipoff Club made the announcement on Monday. The award is presented annually to the top player in college basketball who achieves tremendous on-court success.

The list will be cut from 50 student-athletes to a team of 30 in early February, followed by 10 national semifinalists and four finalists on March 5, 2020, and March 17, 2020, respectively. The 2020 Citizen Naismith Trophy will be awarded in the hometown of the Atlanta Tipoff Club during the Final Four at the Naismith Awards ceremony on April 5, 2020.
 
Lamb is one of nine mid-major players to earn the prestigious honor. The Rochester, New York native is joined by Harvard's Bryce Aiken, Western Kentucky's Charles Bassey, St. Mary's Jordan Ford, Davidson's Kellan Grady and Jon Axel Gudmundsson, Utah State's Sam Merrill, Gonzaga's Killian Tillie, and Dayton's Obi Toppin. 
 
The 6-6 forward adds another preseason accolade after he was named to the Julius Erving Award Watch List earlier this month. He was selected as one of the best seniors in college basketball by NCAA.com's Andy Katz, plus he earned a spot in NBC Sports' and Sports Illustrated's rankings of the top players in Division I. Stadium's Jeff Goodman also lauded Lamb as a Preseason Mid-Major All-American.
 
On the court last season, the reigning America East Player of the Year led the league in scoring (21.2 ppg) and rebounding (7.8 rpg). As a junior, he finished second in the UVM single-season record books with 242 field goals and third with 687 points.
 
Vermont opens the regular season at St. Bonaventure on Friday (Nov. 8) at 7 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase through the St. Bonaventure Box Office. Friday's game will be streamed on ESPN+.
