QUICK STARTS LEAD TO WIN STREAK
The Catamounts have been starting fast in their current three-game winning streak. UVM has outscored its opponents 64-25 in the first quarter over its last three contests. In Vermont's five wins this season they have averaged 20.6 points in the first frame.
Â
STEALING THE SHOW
UVM created and thrived on turnovers in its last contest against NJIT.
Sarah Wells (5),
Emma Utterback (4) and
Delaney Richason (3) all set career-highs in steals against the Highlanders. UVM scored 24 points off NJIT turnovers and 11 fast break points.

CRYMBLE DELIVERING IN HER SENIOR CAMPAIGN
Hanna Crymble is the team's leading scorer with 18.0 points-per game. She is tied for seventh in the NCAA with six double-doubles this season. Her six double-doubles have come in the last eight games. She has made 81 field goals this year which is also tied for the seventh in the NCAA.
Â
With 24 points Saturday afternoon
Hanna Crymble moved into eighth place all-time at Vermont with 1,451 points. She passed Jen Niebling (1989-93) who finished her career with 1,435. She needs 142 points to pass Aaron Yantzi (2000-04) for seventh place.
Â
THREAT FROM DOWNTOWN
UVM is 17th in the NCAA with 91 made three-pointers. The Catamounts lead the conference with 8.3 three-pointers made per game. Six Catamounts have made eight or more triples this season and five Catamounts are shooting better than 35% from beyond the arc.
Â
SCOUTING THE SHARKS
LIU has started the non-conference slate 1-8. The Sharks are coming off a 65-56 loss to UMass Lowell out of the America East. As a team they have shot just 33% from the field, and 29% from three-point range. They have played some of their best basketball recently, taking Army West Point to overtime and beating Hofstra in the two games before UMass Lowell.
Under first-year head coach Rene Haynes, seven different players have started at least three games for the Sharks. They are led by last year's NEC Rookie of the Year Brandy Thomas. Her 12.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game lead the team for the second consecutive season. Jeydah Johnson joins Thomas as the two Sharks that hit more than 34% of their three-pointers.Â
SERIES HISTORY WITH LIU
Saturday will mark Vermont's first-ever meeting with the LIU Sharks. It is the Sharks first season after the consolidation of Division I LIU Brooklyn and Division II LIU Post. The Catamounts never faced either team.
ALL AROUND THE NEC
The Sharks will be the third Northeast Conference school the Catamounts have seen this season. Josie Larkins had 29 points in a win over Bryant on November 17th. Vermont then started December with a 73-69 double overtime loss to Saint Francis at Patrick Gymnasium. The Catamount's final non-conference game will be against Merrimack, the current top team in the NEC.
CATHY INGLESE PATCHES
This season the Catamounts are wearing jersey patches to honor our former Head Coach Cathy Inglese. Inglese was the head coach at Vermont for seven seasons, from 1986 to 1993. She led UVM to unprecedented success with its first two conference titles, in 1992 and 1993, and its first two trips to the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship.
These patches will be worn at home and on the road this season to honor the memory of Coach Inglese who tragically passed away this summer.
