WAKEFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore forward
Corinne McCool was named Hockey East Player of the Week after netting two game-winning goals in Vermont's sweep at Maine. Hockey East announced its weekly awards earlier Monday.

"It is great to see Corinne rewarded for her great weekend at Maine," said head coach
Jim Plumer. "After an injury in late October, we really saw her returning to her early season form in the past week and it resulted in some timely goals. We are looking forward to a great second half of the season for her."
McCool tallied three points against the Black Bears on Friday (Dec. 6) and Saturday (Dec. 7) at Alfond Arena. The forward registered her first point of the weekend in the first game of the weekend series when she scored late in the third period. The clinching goal came on the power play with 9:01 left in regulation.
On Saturday, McCool recorded her fifth two-point game of the season with a goal and an assist in the middle frame of the Catamounts' 3-2 victory. Her game-winning goal was her eighth marker of the season, which ties her with
Maude Poulin-Labelle for the team lead.
The West Roxbury, Massachusetts native has posted 16 points this season to tie for the team lead with
Val Caldwell and
Sini Karjalainen. She was one of only two Division I skaters to record a pair of clinching goals over the past week. Her three game-winning goals is tied for the sixth-most in the country this season.
McCool wins her first Hockey East honor and the fourth by a Catamount this season. She is the also second UVM skater to be named Player of the Week .
Vermont continues the 2019-20 campaign on Monday (Dec. 30) at Northeastern. The Catamounts return from break to face the third-ranked Huskies at Matthews Arena. Fans can watch the Hockey East foes battle it out on NESN at 4 p.m.
