AMERICA EAST 'SPREAD RESPECT' GAME
Continuing its dedication to fostering leadership on and off the court, the America East Conference and its member institutions are conducting 'Spread Respect' nights during conference basketball games. America East and UVM urges you to spread respect by insuring equality and safety for all coaches, student, and fans without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or gender identity. The team will be wearing special Spread Respect shooting shirts and there will be a table in the lobby for more information and to hear from our student-athletes on how they Spread Respect.
LAMB COLLECTS SIXTH AMERICA EAST WEEKLY HONOR
After averaging a double-double last week, junior forward
Anthony Lamb was named America East Player of the Week for the sixth time on Monday. The Rochester, New York native posted 25.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game in a 2-0 week for the Cats. The 6-6 big man shot 64.3% (18-for-28) from the floor and 50.0% (3-of-6) from downtown in the pair of victories. He is the first Catamount to collect six Player of the Week nods since Taylor Coppenrath in 2004-05. Lamb stands atop his America East peers with a 21.4 scoring average and ranks second in rebounding average (8.0), field goal percentage (52.2%), and blocks (50).
ON THE VERGE OF 20 WINS
The Catamounts are closing in on their 11th consecutive 20-win season. The Green and Gold are one of nine teams with at least 10 straight 20-win campaigns – BYU, Duke, Gonzaga, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, and St. Mary's.
MID-MAJOR POWER RANKINGS
UVM continued to climb in both mid-major weekly polls. The Cats moved up two spots in each ranking to No. 13 in this week's
CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 Poll and No. 17 in the
MidMajorMadness.com 'The Other Top-25' Poll.
COACHES WITH 100 CAREER AMERICA EAST WINS
Wednesday night will feature two of the seven America East coaches to win over 100 regular season conference games. New Hampshire's Bill Herrion is the league's all-time leader with 198 conference wins while Cioffi Men's Basketball Head Coach
John Becker follows with 102 victories.
SCOUTING NEW HAMPSHIRE
The Wildcats have struggled in conference play with a 1-9 record and have dropped their last seven games. In league play, UNH has drained 84 triples - the second most among America East teams. New Hampshire has also cleaned up the glass with the fourth-most offensive rebounds (88). Jordan Reed paces the team with a 10.6 scoring average. In his last three games, he has dropped 16.0 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. Josh Hopkins is close behind with 9.5 points per game. The sophomore has been a solid facilitator of late with eight assists in his last three outings.
INSIDE THE SERIES
In the longest standing rivalry in school history, UVM and UNH will meet for the 153rd time. The first ever game between the two programs was a 28-3 victory by the Catamounts in Burlington on Dec. 8, 1906. Vermont has a commanding 104-48 edge over its neighbor to the east and has won the last 10 meetings – the second longest active winning streak against a conference opponent. The Cats have not surrendered a home game to the Wildcats since Jan. 8, 2000. Last month, UVM earned a 73-59 victory in Durham behind a 28-point effort from Lamb.
