COACH'S QUOTE
"We played fantastic for two periods and credit Northeastern in the third, although I felt we shot ourselves in the foot in the third," head coach Kevin Sneddon said. "It's disappointing because I thought we were the better team for 40 minutes."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Catamounts had the Huskies on their heels in the first period, dominating the shot total, 16-5. Despite the advantage, Northeastern goalie Cayden Primeau (32 saves) stood tall, and made a great save on a Jake Massie breakaway chance halfway through the period.
  • Sophomore Alex Esposito scored the night's first goal at 7:01 of the second period. Matt Alvaro muscled the puck to Esposito, who found senior Liam Coughlin on the rush for a 2-on-1. Coughlin returned the pass to Esposito and his shot beat Primeau high.
  • Northeastern's Ryan Shea tied the game just over six minutes later with a blue line shot that beat Lekkas through a Husky screen and traffic in the slot.
  • Matt Filipe broke the 1-1 tie 4:21 into the third period with a rebound goal following an initial shot from Grant Jozefek, who assisted on the goal with Jeremy Davies.
  • John Picking made it 3-1 Huskies with 2:47 remaining in the third period on a 2-on-1 rush. Biagio Lerario assisted on the goal.
  • Lincoln Griffin found the empty net at 18:52 of the period to make it 4-1 Northeastern, where it would end.
GAME NOTES
  • Stefanos Lekkas made 19 saves to bring his season total to 889. He is now ninth in program history for single saves in a season.
