WORCESTER, Mass. – The final night of the 2019 America East Swimming and Diving Championship saw 12 second-swims for the Catamounts. Junior tri-captain
Sophia Smith was awarded the America East Elite 18 Award for her efforts in the pool and in the classroom.
Vermont concluded the meet with 510 points to place third overall for the seventh-straight year. UMBC earned the team title with a total score 894.5 while New Hampshire was the runner-up with 723 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Kristina Posnick (17:36.46) and Smith (17:41.24) finished seventh and eighth, respectively, in the mile to begin the night. Colleen Driscoll (18:06.07) was 12th.
- Morgan Montgomery won the B-final of the 200 back in 2:04.36 to place ninth overall, followed by teammates Kendall Ware (2:05.28) in 11th and Laura Pringle (2:08.72) in 15th.
- It was a fast 100 free A-final as Sierra Sexton raced to fourth in 51.57 with Kira Parker finishing sixth in 51.75. Maddy Kovacs placed 15th in 54.20.
- Haley Gula secured a sixth-place finish in the 200 breast, getting her hands to the wall in 2:21.50. Sara Meyer placed 14th with a time of 2:26.03.
- Julia DeGregorio (2:06.55) flew to sixth in the 200 fly with Katie Rivers (2:10.73) taking 8th in the A-final. Driscoll (2:10.96) and Vivian Nguyen (2:13.01) placed 10th and 13th, respectively.
- The 400 free relay team of Parker (53.03), Kovacs (53.80), Smith (52.89) and Sexton (50.61) concluded the meet by combining in 3:30.33 for fourth place.
