TOP WINNINGEST AMERICA EAST COACHES
Saturday's contest will feature two of the top winningest America East coaches in league history. Cioffi Men's Basketball Head Coach
John Becker ranks seventh all-time with 101 league wins while Will Brown sits third all-time with 151 conference wins. Since Becker was hired in 2011-12, his 101 wins in America East play are the most among active coaches and Brown follows in second with 78 victories during the eight-year run.
ONE OR THE OTHER
Since UAlbany joined America East in 2001-02, the two rivals have combined to win eight regular season conference titles and 11 tournament championships. The America East Championship Game has featured either the Catamounts or Great Danes 13 out of the last 15 years including three head-to-head matchups.
CATS FROM DOWNTOWN
UVM made a season-high 14 attempts from three-point land in Wednesday's rout of Maine - the most since hitting 14 triples against Houston in the Gulf Coast Showcase Championship Game on Nov. 23, 2016 (86 games).
CLASS OF 2019
With Wednesday's win, the Class of 2019 (
Ernie Duncan and
Samuel Dingba) moved into sole possession of second place on UVM's list of all-time winningest classes with 97 career victories. Duncan and Dingba are two victories away of tying the Class of 2018 for the top spot.
EVERETT HEATING UP
Everett Duncan has shot 50.0% (11-for-22) from outside in his last five games and matched his three-point field goal total from the previous 11 games combined. UVM is 9-2 this season when the redshirt junior cans at least one shot from long range.
SCOUTING UALBANY
Despite dropping their first five league games, the Great Danes have rebounded with three straight wins. In conference play, UAlbany sits fourth in three-point field goals (73). The Great Danes are also in the middle of the pack with the fifth-best scoring offense (65.6) and defense (66.4). Cameron Healy ranks third among America East scorers with a 19.0 conference scoring average. The redshirt freshman has registered double figures in 11 straight games including a 31-point outing against Binghamton last Saturday. Ahmad Clark leads the team with a 17.6 overall scoring average. The junior has posted 20.3 points, 5.7 boards, and 4.3 assists per game in his last three contests.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont has won the last six meetings with UAlbany, tied for the fourth-longest active winning streak against a conference opponent, and lead the all-time series 30-14. The six-game run is the longest winning streak by either team in the series since the Green and Gold rattled off eight consecutive victories from Jan. 2010 to Jan. 2013. Last month, the Catamounts opened conference play with an 80-51 victory in Albany.
