GILBERT, Ariz. – The University of Vermont field hockey team placed 15 student-athletes on the 2018 NFHCA Division I National Academic squad with three Catamounts receiving Scholar of Distinction recognition. The NFHCA announced the nation's Scholars of Distinction early Monday afternoon.

Collectively, 979 athletes from 76 institutions received National Academic Squad recognition and 140 individuals earned Scholar of Distinction recognition.
Vermont was one of four America East teams with 10 or more student-athletes named to the National Academic squad. UVM and Stanford led the conference with 15 selections. The Cats were one of 21 Division I teams with 15 or more selections; Miami University led the nation with 21 individuals receiving recognition.
UVM was one of 71 NCAA Division I teams recognized by the NFHCA with the Division I National Academic Team Award, given to teams that boast a team GPA of at least 3.0 in the first semester of the academic year. Together, the Catamounts turned in a 3.27 mark this past fall.
