Cieplicki is one of only 30 elite-level assistant coaches and aspiring Division I athletic directors to receive an invitation to the professional development event. The Consortium will take place in conjunction with the 2019 NABC Convention and the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Final Four next month in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The cohort will partake in a rigorous multi-day academy that teaches each how to identify, analyze and influence critical organizational processes as a means of building better teams and athletic programs. Each cohort – coaches and ADs – participates in individually-focused curriculum designed to sharpen the competencies and capabilities that are critical for ensuring success within their respective roles.
The 2018-19 campaign is Cieplicki's eighth season on staff at his alma mater. He served as the program's director of basketball operations in 2011-12 before getting promoted to the role of assistant coach the following year. He has spent the last the last four seasons as the team's associate head coach. He has helped the Green and Gold to seven consecutive postseason berths including two NCAA Tournament appearances and two trips to the NIT. Before Vermont, he was an assistant coach at Brown for two seasons.
As a student-athlete, Cieplicki was the first three-year captain in the history of the Vermont men's basketball team. He stepped into the starting lineup as a sophomore and started 82 of 89 games over his final three seasons. He guided UVM to the America East Championship Game three times and to the NCAA Tournament as a freshman and the team's first-ever postseason NIT invite as a junior.
