HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sal Iaria, Ben French, and Jack Knight tallied first quarter goals as Vermont took a 3-2 lead through the opening 15 minutes of play. Griffen Konen and William Talbot-Shere tallied goals for the Bearcats despite only six shots in the first.
- Knight added a pair of goals in the second quarter to complete the hat trick as Vermont pushed its lead to 7-2. UVM held Binghamton scoreless in the second quarter as Nick Washuta tallied five of his nine stops.
- Knight's fourth goal of the game and Dawes Milchling's first came seven seconds apart to push Vermont's lead to 9-2 with 8:57 to play in the third quarter.
- Senior Andrew Simeon tallied his second goal of the season and third of his career with 2:28 left in the third quarter for an 11-3 Vermont lead.
- Thomas McConvey pushed his goal streak to 11 games to make it 13-4 Vermont with 10:33 remaining in the fourth quarter.
- Sophomore Emmett Fay tallied his first career goal with 2:24 left in the final quarter.
GAME NOTES
- Knight matched a career-high with four goals, doing so for the second time this season.
- Milchling matched a career-high with four assists in the win. He tallied four helpers in the season-opener at Utah. He finished both games with five points.
- French finished the game with two goals and has 21 this season. He has recorded 20 or more goals three straight years and set a career-high with 25 goals in 2017.
- Vermont matched a season-low with six goals allowed in the victory in Vestal.
- UVM finished the game with 11 assists, marking the third time this season the team has recorded 10 or more assists.
- Vermont held an opponent scoreless in a quarter for the fourth time this season after holding the Bearcats scoreless in the second.
- With the victory, the Cats Win, Community Wins campaign and Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to Make-A-Wish Vermont, bringing this year's total to 50 wins and $5,000. Â
