BURLINGTON, Vt. – University of Vermont head coach
Kate Pfeifer announced six newcomers including five members of the Class of 2023 and a transfer on Tuesday. The newcomers hail from five different states including two from Vermont.
"These young women are hard-working individuals with a desire to pursue high-level academics and compete for a championship," said Pfeifer. "Each has the potential to make an impact this coming season. I look forward to welcoming Claire, Grace, Haley, Kate, Perry, and Rosie on campus in August and supporting them during their time as Catamounts!"
HALEY BUFFENBARGER | M | LEESBURG, Va. | FOXCROFT SCHOOL
Buffenbarger joins the Catamount program after a four-year varsity field hockey career at Foxcroft School. The midfielder is the program's all-time leading scorer with 85 goals and 211 points. Additionally, she served as team captain in 2017 and 2018 and was named Team MVP after each campaign. Buffenbarger also played basketball and lacrosse at Foxcroft.
Buffenbarger chose UVM for the beautiful campus, school culture, and is excited to continue playing field hockey in such a picturesque environment. She plans to major in Microbiology at Vermont. She is the fifth Virginian to join the UVM field hockey program, joining current sophomore
Sierra Espeland.
ROSIE CEISLER | F | KATONAH, N.Y. | JOHN JAY
Ceisler comes to UVM after spending four-years on the varsity team at John Jay High School. She was a two-time All-League selection, a two-time All-Section selection, and an All-State selection as a senior.
Ceisler chose Vermont because of the perfect balance between athletics and academics at UVM. She plans to major in Elementary Education at Vermont. Ceisler is the second recruit from Katonah, New York to join the Catamount field hockey program. She will be the 30th player from the Empire State to wear Green & Gold.
GRACE DUKES | M | LOUISVILLE, Ky. | LOUISVILLE MALE HIGH SCHOOL
Dukes spent four years on the varsity team at Louisville Male High School and earned Team MVP honors three times. She was a 2016 and 2018 All-State selection and played in the 2015, 2016, and 2017 USA Field Hockey National Futures Championship.
Dukes chose Vermont due to the coaching staff and academic opportunities at UVM. She plans to major in Nursing at Vermont. Dukes is the second Catamount recruit from both Louisville and the state of Kentucky.
KATE HALL | F | SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. | SOUTH BURLINGTON
Hall played four years of field hockey and ice hockey at South Burlington High School. She tallied 70 goals and 159 points in her field hockey career to help South Burlington to three State Championships. On the ice, Hall is South Burlington all-time points leader.
Hall chose UVM as a lifelong Catamount fan and the strong STEM programs offered at the University. She plans to major in Neuroscience at Vermont. Hall is the 122nd Vermonter to join the field hockey program but just the 10th from South Burlington.
CLAIRE MOXLEY | D | GREENE, N.Y. | GREENE CENTRAL
Moxley comes to Burlington after playing four years of field hockey at Greene Central. The defender tallied 36 goals and 115 points in her career and captained the team as a senior. She was a four-time Greene Central Scholar-Athlete and a four-time Division I Section 4 All-Star.
Moxley chose UVM for the field hockey program's values in addition to the rigorous academics the University offers. She plans to major in Communications Sciences and Disorders at UVM. Moxley is the third recruit from Greene and the 31st to hail from the state of New York.
PERRY WILLETT | M/D | HUNTINGTON, Vt. | HARTWICK COLLEGE
Willett returns to her home state after playing as a freshman at Hartwick College. She started all 18 games for the Hawks last season, she registered 32 points including a team-best four game-winning goals. She was named to the Empire 8 Conference First Team and the Empire 8 All-Championship Team. She also earned a spot on the 2018 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad.
Willett competed in field hockey, basketball and track and field at Mount Mansfield Union High School. She was a Free Press All-State Field Hockey first team selection in 2017. She scored 11 of MMU's 30 goals during her senior campaign.
