BURLINGTON, Vt. - Former UVM men's basketball star
Payton Henson '18 has inked a deal with GTK Gliwice of the Polish Basketball League, the country's highest level of professional basketball.
Henson spent the 2018-19 campaign with New Heroes Den Bosch Basketball Club in the Dutch Basketball League. The Siloam Springs, Arkansas native averaged 10.1 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in 36 games played last year. He shot 43.2% from the floor including 33.9% from long range and dished out 1.4 assists per contest.
In two seasons at UVM, the 6-8 forward averaged 11.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. He was a two-time America East All-Conference Third Team selection. As a senior, he set career highs in scoring average (12.3 ppg), three-point percentage (40.4%), and total rebounds (187). As a redshirt junior, Henson scored the decisive layup in the 2017 America East Championship Game in the final minute and gave the Cats their sixth conference title. Combined with his two-year scoring totals from Tulane, Henson tallied over 1,000 career points.
