BOSTON, Mass. – The University of Vermont field hockey team was selected to finish third in the East Division of the America East Preseason Coaches' Poll. The conference released the poll Wednesday afternoon.

Vermont tallied 14 points in the poll to finish third in the East Division voting. UAlbany, the 2018 East Division regular season champions, tallied 25 points and five first place votes to claim the poll. Maine accrued 21 points and one first place vote to take second.
Monmouth, the conference's newest member, and New Hampshire tallied 12 points to slot behind the Catamounts. UMass Lowell rounded out the poll in sixth with six points.
After being selected to finish fifth in the division in 2018, the Catamounts finished the 2018 season third in the division with a 4-4 conference mark and an 8-11 overall record, earning a berth in the 2018 America East Tournament in Palo Alto, California. The 2018 Cats beat then 15th-ranked Maine in Orono last season by a 3-0 final, the program's first win over the Black Bears in over a decade.
The 2019 Catamounts open the season on Friday, August 30 against Syracuse at Moulton-Winder Field.
