Espeland tallied seven saves in Vermont's 2-1 loss to open the weekend at Fairfield (Sept. 8). Last Sunday in Hempstead, Espeland tallied her third career shutout with seven saves against the Pride. She finished the weekend with an .818 save percentage.
Through three games in 2019, Espeland has played every minute in goal for UVM and holds a 1.96 goals against average and .727 save percentage.
Today's honor marks the second weekly honor of Espeland's career and her first solo honor. She earned co-defensive player of the week honors after last season's Catamount Cup, where the Stafford, Virginia native led the Cats to a pair of wins over UC Davis and Cornell.
Espeland and the Catamounts return to action at Moulton Winder Field this Friday as the Brown Bears (1-1) visit Burlington. The annual Rally Against Cancer match, presented by Inspired Closets, is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. and will stream through CatamounTV.
