BURLINGTON, Vt. – Cioffi Men's Basketball Head Coach
John Becker officially announced the members of the Class of 2023 and the addition of two transfer student-athletes on Tuesday.
"I'm really excited about the six newcomers to our program," Cioffi Men's Basketball Head Coach
John Becker said. "It's a nice blend of transfers and freshmen. We were able to bolster our front court for this season with our transfers. I love the freshmen and the potential they possess. This group as a whole really compliments our returners to round out our roster."
These six new Catamounts will be added to the 11 returning players from a team fresh off its seventh trip to the NCAA Tournament and second in the last three years.
The newcomers include:
Deng Adiang
5-10 • 165 • G • Jericho, Vt./Vermont Academy
- A local product from Jericho, he started his high school career at Mount Mansfield Union High School before transferring to Vermont Academy
- Averaged 8.6 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.1 rebounds per game at VA
- Served as team captain at Vermont Academy as a senior
- Boasted a 14.7 scoring average in his final season at MMU
- Voted the Defensive Most Valuable Player twice at MMU
Eric Beckett
6-4 • 225 • G • Ajax, Ontario/Tilton School
- Guided Tilton to a NEPSAC Class AA crown as a junior and helped the Rams advance to the National Prep Championship Final Four
- Scored over 1,000 career points at Tilton
- Won two Canadian national championships – one in 2015 at the U15 level and another in 2017 with the U17 team
- Received All-NEPSAC Class AA honors as a junior and senior
- Ranked as the No. 2 shooting guard and No. 9 overall prospect out of New Hampshire
Aaron Deloney
6-0 • 165 • G • Portland, Ore./Grant
- Scored 1,823 career points at Grant High School, which ranks second all-time in Oregon state history
- Finished second in Oregon with a 27.0 scoring average and was among the state's leaders with 5.5 assists per game
- Named Oregon High School Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior
- Considered the No. 2 player in the PrepHoops Oregon Class of 2019 rankings
- Tabbed as USA Today's All-USA Oregon Player of the Year
Duncan Demuth
6-8 • 190 • F • Seminole, Fla./Oklahoma State
- A transfer from Oklahoma State, he received a waiver from the NCAA and will be immediately eligible for the 2019-20 campaign. He will have three seasons of eligibility remaining
- Saw action in all 32 games and scored a point in 12 contests last season with the Cowboys
- Pulled down 42 rebounds, including 22 on the offensive glass at OSU
- Rated as the No. 28 player in the state of Florida, regardless of position, by FloridaHoops.com in high school
- Named to the 2018 2018 All-North Suncoast Team as well as the All-Pinellas County Team by the Tampa Bay Times
Nick Fiorillo
6-7 • 210 • G • Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough
- He was a two-time Bangor Daily News All-Maine First Team selection
- Dropped 19.7 points and 8.6 rebounds per game last year at Scarborough
- Graduated as Scarborough's all-time leading scoring with 1,217 career points
- Named a Maine Mr. Basketball semifinalist following his senior year
- As a junior, he led the Red Storm to its first ever Maine Class AA South regional championship and averaged 19.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game
Daniel Giddens
6-11 • 240 • C • Mableton, Ga./Alabama
- A graduate transfer, he comes to Vermont after spending time at Alabama and Ohio State
- Ranked second on the Crimson Tide as a sophomore with 1.0 blocks per game
- Averaged 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game in 11.8 minutes of action in Tuscaloosa
- Posted 3.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in 18.2 minutes per game at Ohio State
- He was a consensus top-50 player and top-10 center coming out of high school at Oak Hill Academy
