BOSTON – University of Vermont men's soccer freshman forward
Rasmus Tobinski was named America East Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. The accolade is Tobinski's first career conference weekly award.
Tobinski netted his first career goal, the eventual game-winner, in Sunday's 1-0 win over DePaul in the Chicago Classic finale. In the 51st minute, Tobinski put a shot on from distance but was denied by DePaul goaltender Drew Uelle. On an ensuing corner kick,
Evan Rouleau served a ball in and Tobinski headed it home for his first career collegiate goal.
The Kiel, Germany native along with teammates
Alex Nagy and
Adrian Gahabka were lauded on the Chicago Classic All-Tournament Team. The victory over the Blue Demons helped the Cats improve to 3-1-1 all-time against current members of the Big East Conference.
Vermont will host Iona in its home opener on Friday (Sept. 6) at 7 p.m. under the lights at Virtue Field. Tickets are available for purchase at
