30-PLUS FROM CRYMBLE
Wednesday night was
Hanna Crymble's first 30-point performance against an America East opponent. It was her fifth career 30-point performance and second this season. It was the third time in her career she has scored 32 or more points. Only three players in Vermont women's basketball history (Sheri Turnbull – 8, Karalyn Church – 5, Joann McKay – 4) have more performances of 32 points or more.
After scoring 32 points Wednesday Crymble needs 34 points to tie Aaron Yantzi '04 for seventh place all-time at UVM in scoring with 1,592 points. Crymble is one of just eight Catamounts all-time to score 1,500 points.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
Hartford is still chasing its first win of the season. The Hawks have started America East play 0-4, with two of their four losses coming by less than five points. They are led by first year head coach Morgan Valley. She has spent more than 14 years coaching at the division one level. Her staff also includes Hailee Barron, a Burlington native who was First Team All-State with Rice Memorial High School in 2014.
Jada Lucas has been a bright spot for the Hawks, averaging 12.6 points-per-game and connecting with 23 three-pointers this season. Hartford as a unit holds the lowest marks in the conference for points-per-game and points allowed per game.
SERIES HISTORY
Saturday's game will be the 75th between the two teams and break an all-time series tie at 37 wins each. Hartford has won three in a row dating back to a Vermont win in Burlington in 2018. The Catamounts enjoyed 20 consecutive wins in the series from 1990 to 2000.
RICE'S MORGAN VALLEY BEHIND THE BENCH
Hartford Head Coach Morgan Valley is a Colchester, Vt. native. She was a two-time Burlington Free Press Miss Basketball winner while starring at Rice Memorial High School. She helped lead the Knights to two straight undefeated seasons and state championships.
CATHY INGLESE PATCHES
This season the Catamounts are wearing jersey patches to honor our former Head Coach Cathy Inglese. Inglese was the head coach at Vermont for seven seasons, from 1986 to 1993. She led UVM to unprecedented success with its first two conference titles, in 1992 and 1993, and its first two trips to the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship.
These patches will be worn at home and on the road this season to honor the memory of Coach Inglese who tragically passed away this summer.
