The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the nation's top mid-major player. The award honors Henson, the former Illinois and New Mexico State coach, who won 775 games in 41 seasons. The 2019-20 Lou Henson National Player of the Year Award will be announced in April in Atlanta, Georgia – the site of this year's NCAA Men's Basketball National Championship.
Lamb is joined by Binghamton's Sam Sessoms as the only America East student-athletes to land on the list of 50 players. Lamb is also one of 27 competitors who were named to the award's Preseason Watch List in October.
The Rochester, New York native boasts a team-best 17.4 scoring and 7.8 rebounding average. He has scored double digits against every Division I opponent this year and has hit the 20-point mark six times. He has recorded four double-doubles, including a 23-point/13-rebound effort in a 70-68 win at St. John's on November 16 after he drained the game-winning shot in the final seconds. Three days later, he dropped a season-high 30 points on defending national champion Virginia and canned a career-high seven three-pointers.
In the conference ranks, he sits third in blocks (24), fourth in points per game, and sixth in rebounds per game.
Vermont returns to action at UMBC on Saturday (Jan. 11). The matinee will get underway at 1 p.m. Tickets are available for purchase through
