WORCESTER, Mass. – The Vermont 200 free relay team posted a time of 1:35.13 to close the second day of competition with a win at the 2020 America East Championship Friday night at WPI.
Individually,
Emily Murphy and
Sierra Sexton both reached the podium to earn America East All-Conference honors.
Through two days of competition, UVM remains in fourth place with 230 points. The Cats trail New Hampshire (345 pts.), Binghamton (240 pts.), and UMBC (236 pts.).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Murphy posted a score of 224.00 to finish third and earn America East All-Conference honors in the three-meter dive. Olenka Duncan finished eighth in the event with a score of 156.45.
- Mina Poppas (5:03.58) finished seventh in the 500 free after qualifying for the A Final this morning. Beth Hartog posted a time of 5:12.06 in the C Final to finish 21st overall.
- Cailin Campbell (2:05.59) finished sixth and Katie Rivers (2:07.39) finished eighth in the A Final of the 200 IM.
- Morgan Montgomery finished 17th and Jenny O'Neil finished 18th in the C Final of the 200 IM with respective times of 2:10.09 and 2:10.71.
- Sexton earned America East All-Conference honors after finishing the 50 free in 23.56 to finish second.
- In the 50 free B Final, Isabelle Magbie (24.29) finished ninth, Kira Parker (24.31) finished 10th, and Vivian Nguyen (24.70) finished 16th.
- Sexton, Nguyen, Magbie, and Parker finished the 200 free relay in 1:35.13 to narrowly edge second-place New Hampshire (1:35.16) and earn All-Conference honors.
CHAMPIONSHIP NOTES
- Murphy's third place finish is the highest of her career on the three-meter board. Murphy previously received All-Conference recognition on the one-meter board in 2018.
- Sexton picked up the ninth and tenth America East All-Conference honors of her career after tonight's 50 free and 200 free relay.
- Campbell broke the UVM freshman record in the 200 IM twice, ultimately posting a time of 2:05.59 in the final heat. She broke the previous record of 2:06.00, held by Laura Stephens, set at the 2012 America East Championship.
- Campbell and Poppas both qualified for her first A Final in today's competition. Campbell reached the top final in the 200 IM And Poppas reached the top final in the 500 free.
- Duncan qualified for the first final dive of her career on the three-meter board.

The third day of the America East Championship begins tomorrow at 10 a.m. The day's preliminaries feature the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, and 400 medley relay. Final heats are scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at WPI.
