COACH'S QUOTE
"I really like how hard everyone has worked to position us for success this weekend," head coach
Matt Belfield said. "It hasn't been perfect, and while we may not get everything we want out of these championships, we will absolutely fight for every team point we can get. These men and women understand that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts; and that all of us can benefit from this cohesive effort."

LOOKING BACK AT LAST YEAR'S CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Catamounts set several school records in last year's championships as the women finished fifth and the men took sixth.
Dan DeBlieck set the 500 meter record (1:03.62) in the preliminaries and won the finals the following day. The distance medley relay team of
Caroline O'Shea,
Alex May Curtis,
Ava Meyer, and
Lauren Trumble ran a UVM record-setting time of 11:38.46. The following day, Trumble ran the fastest 1000 meter time in championship history (2:45.36) and was named Most Outstanding Track Performer.

SCOUTING THE CONFERENCE
The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association released its conference rankings ahead of this weekend's championships. The UMass Lowell men and UAlbany women are at the top of the conference rankings. UAlbany and Binghamton round out the top three on the men's side. UMass Lowell and New Hampshire complete the women's top three. The UVM men are ranked fifth in the conference while the women are eighth.

MARSHALL SETS RECORD AT VALENTINE
Tyler Marshall set the Vermont record in the 1000 meter run on Saturday (Feb. 15) at the Valentine Invite. The junior ran a time of 2:25.86 to become the first Catamount in program history with a sub-2:26 mark. Sean Steinhagen had the previous record of 2:26.05, which was set in 2007.

FAMILIAR TRACK
UVM makes the trip to Boston University's Track & Tennis Center for the third time this season. The facility has played host to last week's Valentine Invite, as well as the Terrier Classic earlier in the season. The Cats have posted school records (Marshall's last week) and many personal marks on the fast track in Beantown. Vermont will return to BU for one final time this season for the ECAC/IC4A Championships on March 7 and 8.
