WOMEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
Eighth-seeded Vermont (10-16-8, 7-14-6 HEAW) visits top-seeded Northeastern (28-4-2, 24-3-0 HEAW) for a best-of-three Hockey East Quarterfinals series, beginning on Thursday (Feb. 27) at 1 p.m. Game 2 is slated for 7 p.m. on Friday (Feb. 28) and Game 3 will be played at 7 p.m. on Sunday, if necessary. The entire series will be played at the Huskies' Matthews Arena. Tickets can be purchased online through

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
Northeastern holds the top seed for the second consecutive season with a nine-point edge over Boston University. The Huskies are ranked No. 4 in this week's USCHO national poll. NU averages 3.79 goals per game, which ranks fifth in the country. The Huskies goal margin of plus-96 is the highest in the nation.

Alina Mueller leads Hockey East in goals (23), assists (34), and points (57). Linemate Chloe Aurard is second in the league in those three statistics with 44 points on 20 goals and 24 assists. Skylar Fontaine is the top scoring defenseman in the league with 34 points (13 goals, 21 assists).

Aerin Frankel is one of Division I's top goaltenders with a nation's best save percentage (.959) and the second-best goals against average (1.08). The netminder was named a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award along with Mueller.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Thursday marks the 51st all-time meeting between Vermont and Northeastern. The Catamounts and Huskies square off in the Hockey East Quarterfinals for the second consecutive season. NU won last year's series in two games. Vermont pushed Northeastern in Game 2 of last year's series with a strong 31-save performance by
Blanka Škodová. UVM made one trip to Matthews Arena earlier this season.

Maude Poulin-Labelle scored for the Cats in a hard-fought 4-2 loss.

SUCCESS AT THE DOT
The Catamounts are one of the best faceoff teams in the country, leading Hockey East with a 56.3% success rate at the dot. Only No. 2 Wisconsin (60.7%) and No. 6 Princeton (57.0%) have a higher faceoff percentage than Vermont.
Ève-Audrey Picard ranks fourth in the nation with a 63.8% success rate and
Alyssa Holmes is seventh (61.7%). UVM is the only team in the country with two centers in the nation's top 10 at the dot.

ROAD POWER PLAY
Vermont has the third-best power-play on the road in the nation, clipping at 26.9% (14-for-52). The Catamounts trail No. 2 Wisconsin (43.4%) and No. 8 Boston University (30.9%). UVM's power play is 24.4% (11-for-45) when visiting Hockey East opponents.

Theresa Schafzahl has posted 15 points (10 goals, 5 assists) in 14 games since the calendar flipped to 2020. The sophomore is sixth among Hockey East skaters in 2020 points and has the second-most goals. Schafzahl has a team-leading 14 goals this season and is second in points (28).
