BOSTON – Vermont men's basketball senior
Anthony Lamb has been named America East Player of the Week. The league office made the announcement on Monday. The honor is Lamb's second of the season and 16th-career weekly accolade.
Lamb guided the Catamounts to a pair of victories last week with wins over New Hampshire and UAlbany. The Rochester, New York native averaged 26.5 points and four rebounds against the Great Danes and the Wildcats. He also recorded three assists and one block in each game.
In Wednesday's road game at New Hampshire, Lamb posted a game-high 20 points on 8-of-18 shooting from the field, including one from three-point land. The senior also sank a trio of free throws and pulled down five rebounds.
Lamb then went to UAlbany on Saturday and scored a season-high 33 points. The captain was 10-of-17 from the floor and a perfect 10-for-10 from the line. He also buried three triples and registered three rebounds. After netting the first points of the game, he moved up to No. 6 on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,776 career points.
Vermont has won seven straight for a 7-1 conference mark and first place at the midway point of America East play. The Catamounts stand at 17-6 overall on the season. UVM hosts Maine on Wednesday (Feb. 5) at Patrick Gym. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. Fans can purchase tickets at
