Named after Hall of Famer and 16-year professional basketball player Julius Erving, the annual honor in its sixth year recognizes the top small forwards in Division I men's college basketball. Lamb, along with Boise State's Derrick Alston Jr. and Gonzaga's Corey Kispert, are the only mid-major players to make the list. This list will be narrowed down to five finalists in March and the winner will be announced at the ESPN College Basketball Awards Show in Los Angeles on Friday, April 10.
Lamb boasts one of the best scoring and rebounding averages in America East. The 6-6 forward has averaged 17.1 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, both rank in the top five respectively. He has also swatted away the third-most shots (30) in the league and sits at No. 15 with 30 steals. The reigning America East Player of the Week has produced three straight 20-point games, including a season-high 33-point effort at UAlbany last time out. The Rochester, New York native has scored double figures in 21 out of his 23 games played and has logged four double-doubles.
Vermont has posted a 17-6 overall record and 7-1 mark in conference play this year. The Catamounts return to action against Maine on Wednesday night (Feb. 5). The opening tip is set for 7 p.m. Tickets are still available for purchase at
