BURLINGTON, Vt. – Two former Catamounts were selections in Thursday night's National Lacrosse League Entry Draft.
Rob Hudson '20 was selected sixth overall by the Georgia Swarm while the Philadelphia Wings made
Ben French '20 the 51
st overall selection.
Hudson is Vermont's third top-10 selection in the last three NLL drafts.
Ian MacKay went fourth overall to Buffalo in 2018 and
Warren Jeffrey sixth to Colorado in 2019.
A former America East All-Conference Second-Team selection, Hudson was on pace for a torrid senior season before the onset of the Covd-19 pandemic. In four games last spring, he poured in 11 goals including a career-high five against Quinnipiac on Feb. 22. Hudson finished his Catamount career with 50 goals and 21 assists.
French captained the 2020 Catamount squad and pumped in seven goals and four assists in the shortened season. He was named to the America East All-Conference second team in 2019 after leading Vermont with 29 goals. In 47 career games, French scored 85 goals which ranks just outside the top-10 in program history.
The 35
th season of NLL play is expected to begin in early 2021 according to Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz who made the announcement during the draft.
