Ella Church and
Jackie House combined to win three events in their first collegiate meet Friday evening. The Catamounts won a total of five events defeating Binghamton 164-136 and falling 190-110 against the host Army. UVM opens the 2021-22 campaign with a record of 1-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Church won the first race of her collegiate career taking the 1000 free with a time of 10:28.84. She beat the field by 18.52 seconds and it was the first time in her swimming career competing in the event.
- House won the 200 free and the 500 free in her first action for the green and gold. She finished in a time of 1:53.49 in the 200 and 5:03.76 in the 500. Church placed second overall in the 500 free 4.28 seconds behind her classmate.
- Senior Kira Parker started her year off on a winning note taking the 100 back with a mark of 58.15. She also placed second in the 200 medley relay.
- UVM closed out the meet winning the 400 free relay with a time of 3:35.78. Parker, House, Mina Poppas and Charlie Ramey combined for the win.
- First year Hally Laney also had a strong debut performance for the Catamounts. She finished second overall in the 100 fly and third in the 200 IM. Her time of 56.93 in the 100 fly was a career-best.
WHO'S NEXT
The Catamounts will be back in action on Saturday, October 23 as they host New Hampshire at 1 p.m. Vermont's lone home meet of the fall semester will be the Catamounts Spread Respect meet. America East's Spread Respect initiative raises awareness to ensure equality and safety for all student-athletes, coaches and fans without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity.
