BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Vermont Swimming and Diving program has hired Katie Nickitas '08 as the Head Diving coach, Head Coach
Gerry Cournoyer announced on Thursday morning.
"We are thrilled to welcome Katie back to the University of Vermont as our new Diving Coach," said Cournoyer.
"As a UVM alumna, Katie has a deep understanding of our program, our values, and what makes UVM such a special place for student-athletes."
Nickitas was a member of the Vermont swimming and diving program from 2005-2008. She completed a double major in Liberal Arts and Gender Studies at Rutgers University in 2023. In May of 2025 she earned her Master of Social Work with a specialization in Integrated Practice and Programming from Columbia University.
"I am thrilled to be back home with Catamount Swimming and Diving," said Nickitas. "It is an honor and a privilege to be back on the pool deck with Coach Cournoyer and to be leading the Catamount Divers this year. I am looking forward to a successful season, Go Cats Go!
