COACH'S QUOTE
"Minus an error on the four-on-four I was very pleased with our game tonight," Head Coach Todd Woodcroft said. "Over the course of two games we put 80 shots on net and had some great offensive chances. We didn't give up a five-on-five goal today either which is a positive. Our power play has to produce tonight but our 5v5 game was excellent. For most of the game, we were playing down three players as well. We are building which is something here which we will continue to emphasize. The small details make the difference."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Vermont opened the scoring 2:37 into the contest after a furious start in the Colgate zone. The Raiders Andrew Farrier made a couple of saves early and then a loose puck was corralled by Andrew Lucas down low. Lucas cut behind the net taking two defenders with him and fed a pass back to Nic Hamre. Hamre one-timed a slapshot from a tight angle that found the back of the net for his first career goal. Lucas and Noah Jordan earned their first points of the season with assists on the opener.
  • While on the first power play of the game the Raiders Jeff Stewart received a game misconduct and a five-minute major for hitting from behind with 6:51 left in the first period. Before the Catamounts power play began Colgate tied the game during the four-on-four. Nic Belpedio wired a bouncing puck from just inside the slot for his second goal of the season with 6:31 left in the first.
  • With just 2.8 seconds left in the first period Jacques Bouquot rang a shot of the pipe in transition. The Catamounts outshot Colgate 17-5 in the opening frame but the teams went to intermission tied at one.
  • Vermont had penalty trouble early in the third taking a tripping and hooking penalty just 16 seconds apart. The Raiders converted on their five-on-three 11 seconds into the two-player advantage. Nick Anderson fed a pass to Verboon on the left faceoff dot and he unloaded a slap shot just under the bar for the game-winner.
  • Like Friday night the Catamounts poured on the pressure in the third period, they outshot the Raiders 19-5 including five shots on the power play but couldn't solve Farrier again. Farrier earned his ninth career win with a career-high 43 saves.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Vermont's 44 shots tonight are the most by the Catamounts in the Todd Woodcroft era. The previous high was 41 last night against the Raiders.
  • Two newcomers made their regular season debut in the green & gold for Vermont tonight – Porter Schachle and Jesper Tarkiainen.
  • Vermont captain Andrew Lucas led all skaters with seven shots tonight.
