KINGSTON, R.I. – The Catamounts won three individual events on the opening day of the Harold Andersen Invitational Friday at the Tootell Aquatic Center. Vermont sits in second place currently with 235 points, just 10 back from the host URI.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mina Poppas led a Catamount sweep of the 500 free podium. Poppas won the race with a time of 4:56.25. First year Jackie House placed second with a mark of 4:57.08 and her classmate Ella Church placed third with a time of 5:00.81. House set a new first year record in the event with a time of 4:53.56 in the prelims.
- The 200 IM was a family affair for Vermont Friday evening. Cailin Campbell won the race in a time of 2:07.98 and her sister Kara placed second .37 seconds later.
- Kira Parker earned UVM's final win of the day in the 50 free. It was UVM's first win of the season in the event. She finished in a time of 23.71, .36 seconds faster than the nearest competition.
WHO'S NEXT
Day Two of the Harold Anderson Invitational begins Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. in the Tootell Aquatic Center. Teams will compete in the 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard IM, 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard backstroke, 800-yard free relay and the 3-meter dive.
