SCOUTING THE HAWKS
Saint Anselm will be playing in its first game since March 7, 2020 on Saturday at Patrick Gym. The Hawks won the Northeast-10 Championship that day by defeating New Haven 65-63 in overtime. Saint Anselm qualified for the NCAA Division II championship for the eighth consecutive season, but the tournament was canceled due to the global pandemic. The Hawks were led by Chris Paul (19.3 ppg) who returns for his senior season. The 6-7 forward averaged 7.6 rebounds per game and shot 50.8% from the floor.

SANTO FACES HIS ALMA MATER

Chris Santo will face his alma mater on Saturday afternoon. A 2015 Saint Anselm grad, Santo played three seasons for the Hawks and was named Northeast-10 Player of the Year as a senior. Santo also spent four seasons on the Saint Anselm coaching staff, before joining the New York Knicks' staff.

ON THE WATCH LIST
Vermont senior
Ryan Davis was named to the 2021-22 Lou Henson Award Watch List on Thursday afternoon. The Lou Henson Award is presented annually to the nation's top mid-major player in Division I college basketball. Davis is one of 50 student-athletes named to the preseason watch list and one of two America East players – Elijah Olaniyi from Stony Brook was also on the list.

CATS IN THE MID-MAJOR TOP 25
Vermont was picked 16th in the Mid-Major Top 25, conducted by CollegeInsider.com. The Catamounts were the highest ranked America East school – Stony Brook received votes.

POWELL'S 19 AGAINST SAINT MICHAEL'S
Isaiah Powell posted a game-high 19 points in an exhibition contest last Saturday (Oct. 30) against crosstown foe Saint Michael's. Powell shot 8-for-12 from the field and drilled 2-of-3 from deep as the Catamounts defeated the Purple Knights 105-60.
