"
Scott Moser has been building relationships around the world since he was an assistant coach under Dave Smith at Canisius and later at RPI," said Vermont Head Coach
Todd Woodcroft. "Scott's reputation as a worker with no "off button" preceded his journey to Catamount Country. When circumstances found the Slovak National Team looking for a coach with a North American perspective, it was an easy suggestion to put forth
Scott Moser."
"UVM will have not one, but two assistant coaches (
Stephen Wiedler, Norway) at the world's premier junior tournament which bodes well for the future of Catamount hockey," continued Woodcroft. "Our global network will get stronger and our ability to find recruits in unearthed markets should continue to pay dividends. Lastly, the timing of both tournaments couldn't be better, with the winter break Scott and Steve will miss a minimal amount of time from UVM. These honors also allow
Patrick Sharp to step into a more prominent role during the time period that Steve and Scott will be away from UVM Hockey."
Moser will serve under Head Coach Ivan Fenes. In Group B, Slovakia will compete with the United States, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland. The Slovaks open the tournament on December 26 against the United States at 9:30 p.m. (ET). The top-four teams in each group advance to the quarterfinals on Sunday, January 2.
