WOMEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOK
Vermont (9-7-2, 6-4-1 HEA) is back this weekend as they return to Hockey East action. On Friday the Catamounts travel to face Providence (7-5-5, 4-4-2 HEA) in a game that will be broadcast on NESN at 2 p.m. Then on Sunday the Catamounts will host Maine (6-12-1, 4-7-1) at 1 p.m. from Gutterson Fieldhouse.

WEEKLY AWARDS FOR THE CATAMOUNTS
After the Catamounts defeated Boston College 3-1 for their first win over the Eagles since 2009 Jesse McPherson and
Evelyne Blais-Savoie earned weekly awards from Hockey East. McPherson was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week after making 15 saves in the Catamounts win. Blais-Savoie earned Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week honors with the game-winning goal. She ended the first half of the year with points in three of her last four outings, including two goals.
OFFENSE IN DROVES
In Vermont's last seven games they've scored 27 goals an average of 3.9 goals per game. In three of the seven they matched a season-high with five goals. No surprise the Catamounts are 5-1-1 in those last seven contests.
POULIN-LABELLE LEADS CATAMOUNTS OFFENSIVE ATTACK
Senior defenseman
Maude Poulin-Labelle leads the Catamounts in scoring with six goals and 11 assists this season for 17 points. Her numbers are boosted by a historic performance at Merrimack on November 21. She recorded the second hat trick of her career. She's the fourth Catamount in program history to record two or more hat tricks in her career. Allie Knowles, Dayna Colang and
Ève-Audrey Picard were the other three. With 66 career points in 101 games she's UVM's all-time leader in defensive scoring.
PK PROWESS
The Catamounts own the nation's 6th ranked penalty kill this season, boasting an 90.2% success rate. Vermont has only allowed four goals while shorthanded this season, and has scored once while on the penalty kill –
Natálie Mlýnková against RPI (Oct. 2). The 2018-19 Catamounts finished the season with the nation's top penalty kill at 87.4%. Vermont is one of just eight teams in the country to have allowed four or less goals shorthanded this season.
DISCIPLINE AMONG THE CATAMOUNTS
In addition to the Catamounts excellent penalty kill they have also done a fantastic job staying out of the penalty box. UVM has just 84 PIM this season, an average of 4.66 per game. Only No. 7 Yale has fewer penalty minutes in the NCAA this season.
SCOUTING THE FRIARS
Friday will be Providence's first game action since December 4. PC is 3-0-1 in its last four games including a league win against Merrimack. Sophomore goaltender Mireille Kingsley was named Hockey East Goaltender of the Week following the Friars big final stretch of the first semester on December 6. She earned her first career shutout with 18 saves against Merrimack then made 30 saves in a 1-1 tie with Princeton.
Sophomore forward Lindasy Bochna leads the Friars in scoring with six goals and seven assists for 13 points. All six of her goals have come in Hockey East action. Graduate student Hayley Lunny leads the team with eight assists this season.
Friday will be the Catamounts first game at Schneider Arena since November 17, 2019. It will be the 55th all-time meeting between the two teams. Providence leads the series with a record of 33-17-4.
SCOUTING THE BLACK BEARS
The Black Bears are 6-12-1 this season and enter Sunday's contest having lost four straight games to Clarkson and Boston College before the semester break. Both losses to BC came in overtime. Maine like Providence has been off since December 4.
Finnish forward Ida Kuoppala leads the Black Bears in scoring with 10 goals and five assists for 15 points. Kuoppala scored twice for Maine in the Black Bears playoff win over the Catamounts last season. First year forward Rahel Enzler leads the team with six assists.
Sunday's game will be the 58th meeting between Vermont and Maine. The Catamounts have a 19-28-10 record in the all-time series, but own a 4-3-3 mark in the last 10 contests. Last season the Black Bears stunned Vermont in the Hockey East Quarterfinals upsetting the Catamounts 3-1 at Gutterson Fieldhouse on February 28.
CZECH CATAMOUNTS QUALIFY FOR THE 2022 OLYMPICS
Sammy Kolowrat '19, Natálie Mlynková and Tynka Pátková qualified for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics last weekend in Chomutov, Czech Republic. The Czechs went 3-0 in Group C to qualify defeating Poland, Hungary and Norway. Kolowrat scored two goals in the three games, Mlynková posted one goal and three assists and Pátková posted an assist.
