BURLINGTON, Vt. – The UVM track and field team opened the 2021 outdoor season with a home meet against UMass Lowell and Boston University on Friday. The Catamounts won nine events – five by the women's team and four by the men's team.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Abby Martin beat the women's javelin competition with a distance of 32.85m. On the men's side, Zane Russom grabbed second place at 53.98m and Alex Rokosz claimed third place at 51.03m.
• Pierce DeBoer placed second in the men's high jump at 1.85m.
• Marina Cannon won the women's pole vault with a height of 3.50m. The men's team took second place with Alex Parasky (3.80m) and third place with Elias Lindsey (3.50m).
• The Catamounts earned the top three finishes in the men's discus – DJ Snide in first place (38.23m), Jackson Baker in second place (24.00m), and Parasky in third place (32.76).
• Jane Leighton won the women's 1500m race at 4:42.85.
• Lauren Triarsi had the best time in the women's 100m hurdles at 15.19 and Parasky had the quickest time in the men's 110m hurdles at 15.56.
• In the men's 400m dash, Alex Siaton was clocked at 49.44 for the fastest time.
• In the 5000m run, the Green and Gold placed first and second in both the men's and women's races. Annemarie Martell won the women's heat at 18:18.67 followed by Meaghan Alba in second place at 18:23.45. Andrew Crompton topped the men's race at 14:48.20 and Wyatt Matyas trailed in second place at 15:11.06.   

WHO'S NEXT
Vermont will compete again at the UNH Quad Meet. The meet will start at 11 a.m in Durham, New Hampshire.
