COACH'S QUOTE
"I'm very pleased with the number of people that generated really high-level performances after a short week of preparation," head coach
Matt Belfield said. "WE have some folks still climbing toward the peak heading into New England's.
Jake Bair jumped into our Top-10 All-Time list with a huge PR in the 400. Marina's victory was an all-time best and one of the best jumps in school history.
Alex Siaton continues to impress and I thought
Owen Amsden;s huge PR in the 5K was noteworthy also.
Chris Gish and
Andrew Crompton in the 1500 might be top-10 marks as well. Lindy Stradtlander ran a huge personal best in the 800 and was strong leading off our 4x400 as well."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cannon produced her personal-best pole vault with a mark of 3.60 meters. The winning jump matched the second-highest mark in program histor previously done by Jan Carlson in 2006 and Mary Krug in 2012.
- Siaton was victorious in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.03 seconds, and was key in the Catamounts 4x100-meter relay team that posted a time of 42.15 seconds. The rookie ran the second leg of the relay, in between teammates Bair, Chike Asanya, and Trey Poquette.
- Bair finished second in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 48.97 seconds, which ranks fourth all-time at Vermont.
- Amsden posted a 5000-meter time of 14:56.07 to crack the 15-minute mark for the first time in his collegiate career. The junior finished sixth, one spot behind senior Ian Denis (14:53.54).
- Gish (3:52.68) and Crompton (3:53.23) finished fifth and sixth, respectively, to crack Vermont's top-10 list.
- Stradtlander finished third in the women's 800-meter run with a mark of 2:16.57. The first year eclipsed her previous personal record by a margin of 4.63 seconds.
- Sonia John nearly matched her best mark of the season in the 100-meter dash, when she posted a time of 12.50 seconds for a runner-up finish. However, the junior set a personal record in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.42 seconds.
- UVM had a pair of runner-up finishes in javelin. Zane Russom logged a second-place finish in the men's javelin with a throw of 58.90 meters. Abby Rogers was second in the women's javelin with a mark of 35.29 meters.
