COACH'S QUOTE
"I think our players wanted this one badly and it really showed and they've gained some confidence from the last few matches," head coach
Kate Pfeifer said. "I think finally some of the tough early season matchups and things we were up against in those games are starting to pay off as we keep gaining confidence.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Cats got on the board first just five minutes into the contest. Claudia Cotter sped down the right side and sent a lofted pass towards Kate Hall. The sophomore put a deft deflection on the ball and it sailed into the cage to make it 1-0.
- Bailey Matthews doubled Vermont's lead ten minutes into the second half. She pounced on a misplayed New Hampshire restart, gathered the ball at the top of the circle blasted a shot short-side low for her first of the season.
- Eight minutes later, Matthews once again found herself alone at the top of the circle. This time her backhand shot was saved but she fought for her own rebound and buried the chance to make it 3-0 in the fourth quarter.
- UNH got one back off its sixth and final penalty corner chance of the day. Bloem van den Brekel fired a shot from the top right that found its way through traffic. Isabelle Danahy and Molly McAteer got credit for assists.
