BURLINGTON, Vt. – Mayer Women's Basketball Coach
Alisa Kresge officially announced four newcomers in Vermont's class of 2025 Tuesday afternoon. Aryana Dizon, Catherine Gilwee, Maria Myklebust and Bella Vito will begin working out on-campus this summer.
"Our incoming class of 2021 is a talented group of student-athletes who are well-rounded and winners in the classroom and on the court," said Kresge. "We can't wait for these four to join our returning team and get to work this summer."
Aryana Dizon • Forward • 6-2 • Tampa, Fla. • Carrollwood Day School
- Was named the 2021 Carrollwood Day School Athlete of the Year
- Reached 1,000 career points on February 23, 2021 on her Senior Night
- Finished as state runner up as a freshman and sophomore before winning a state title as a junior with the Patriots
- As a senior, she was team captain and named a Hillsborough County All-Star after averaging 12.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.2 blocks and 2.6 steals per game
- In addition to receiving a varsity letter in basketball for four seasons Dizon also competed in track & field and flag football at Carrollwood Day School
Kresge on Dizon: "Aryana is a talented and athletic 6'2" post. Her versatility offensively and her ability to get up and down the floor is impressive. Through the AAU circuit Aryana played with and competed against elite talent and saw firsthand what it takes to win."
Catherine Gilwee • Guard • 5-8 • Hinesburg, Vt. • Champlain Valley Union (CVU)
- 2021 Gatorade Player of the Year in Vermont, also named Burlington Free Press' "Miss Basketball" in March of 2021
- Over her final two seasons at CVU Gilwee helped lead the Redhawks to a 30-0 record
- This season for CVU she averaged 12.1 points, 5.6 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 3.1 steals per game
- For the 2019-20 season Gilwee was named the Burlington Free Press Athlete of the Year
- She has maintained a 4.22 weighted GPA and earned high honor roll for all of her high school semesters
Kresge on Gilwee: "Catherine, a Vermont native, is a 5'8" heady combo guard with the ability to score and make her teammates better. She comes from a winning tradition and knows what it takes to be a winner on and off the court."
Maria Myklebust • Forward • 6-1 • Asker, Norway • Monteverde Academy (Fla.)
- Went 22-2 this past season at Monteverde Academy, team was ranked #1 in the nation by MaxPreps in December of 2020
- She received Monterverde Academy's "Clutch Award" following the 2019-20 campaign
- She is a four-time All-Star at the Norwegian Championships (U16 & U18) and a two-time All-Star in the European Girls Basketball League
- She was a Captain of the Norwegian national team three years in a row
- She competed at two FIBA Women's European Championships and averaged 13.3 points-per game, 7.5 rebounds-per game and 1.5 assists-per game
Kresge on Myklebust: "Maria is a talented and driven 6'1" stretch post. Her guard-skills combined with her size bring more offensive versatility to our team. Maria's experience playing for the Norwegian national team and competing against the best has given her a strong foundation."
Bella Vito • Guard • 5-9 • Towaco, NJ • Montville Township High School
- 2020-21 Montville Township High School Female Athlete of the Year
- Averaged 22.4 points per game as a senior and was named the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference Player of the Year
- She also averaged 8.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 3.4 steals per game during her senior campaign
- She was also named the Morris County Coaches 2021 Player of the Year
- Served as team captain as a junior and senior
- She played her club basketball with the NJ Freedom, helped them win the 2020 Atlantic City Tournament
- Her twin sister Dani will be attending NJIT this fall and competing in America East in women's soccer
Kresge on Vito: "Bella is a 5'9" scoring guard who is a two-way player. She has the ability to score the ball and defend the other team's best guard. She brings a hate to lose mentality and does whatever it takes to help the team win."
