BURLINGTON, Vt. – With the fall season just days away, the Vermont field hockey team has its captains for 2021.

Lydia Maitland will once again wear the captain band for the Catamounts and she'll be joined by classmate

Maitland enters her senior season coming off her most productive season as a Catamount. As a captain last spring, she registered her first career points and started all ten games. She was named to the America East All-Academic Team, as well, with a 3.89 GPA as a neuroscience major.
Ferry earned her third straight All-Conference selection last season when she was named to the America East Second Team. She was a key cog in the UVM midfield last spring and earned NFHCA All-Region Second Team status. The Ireland native enters her senior season with 22 career points on eight goals and six assists.
Buffenbarger – the recipient of the team's Catamount Grit Award last spring – will anchor the back line again this season. She has started all 27 games in her career thus far.
Vermont opens the season this weekend with a pair of games in Syracuse. On Saturday the Cats take on Sacred Heart and then face the host Orange Sunday afternoon. Sunday's game will be available on ACC Network Extra.
