LAWRENCE, Kan. – University of Vermont junior
Mina Poppas was the top finisher for the Catamounts placing 31st overall at the 2021 CSCAA National Collegiate Open Water Championship Friday morning. Vermont finished ninth overall amongst the 22 competing teams.

Poppas posted a time of 1:08:40.2 on the 5k course which was comprised of three laps in Lone Star Lake. Purdue's Kate Beavon won the women's race with a time of 1:03:09.6.
Three other Catamounts placed in the top-50.
Cailin Campbell (1:09:24.5) was 40th and
Ellie Martin was 46th in a time of 1:10.00.6. Her teammate
Molly Williams finished just behind her 28.1 seconds later for 47th.
Kara Campbell placed 59th for Vermont in a time of 1:12:01.6.
The Catamounts open the 2021-22 regular season on Friday, October 1 as they travel to Army West Point. UVM will face the Black Knights and Binghamton in the Black Knight Invite that will begin at 5:30 p.m. from Crandall Pool.
