BURLINGTON, Vt. – University of Vermont Director of Athletics
Jeff Schulman announced Friday that Vermont coaches
Ryan Schneider and
Kasey Hill have been promoted to associate head coach in their respective sports.
Schneider is in his ninth season on the men's basketball staff and has played a significant role in the Catamounts earning an America East Regular Season Title in each of the last five seasons. Schneider's work with Vermont's forwards has been key to the program's success. The Catamounts have had a forward named America East Player of the Year in each of the last three seasons, with
Ryan Davis winning the award a season ago. UVM has also had a forward earn All-Conference honors each year that Schneider has been on staff. In Schneider's previous eight seasons with the program, Vermont has registered a 184-72 overall record and 107-19 mark in conference play with three America East Championships. During his playing career, Schneider was a member of the 2004-05 Vermont team that knocked off No. 4 Syracuse in the NCAA Tournament.
"Ryan has earned the promotion to Associate Head Coach," Cioffi Men's Basketball Head Coach
John Becker said. "He has been a big part of our success the past eight years. He understands how we do things here and will do a great job in his new role."
Hill is in her sixth season on the track & field staff and coaches the sprints, hurdles, jumps, relays, and combined-events. In 2017, Hill began overseeing the men's combined-events and has coached the men to a pair of conference championships in the multis, most recently with
Alex Parasky's decathlon title in 2021. Hill has coached Vermont athletes to 20 school records since joining the staff and has helped produce four America East Champions and 24 All-Conference performances. A native of Montgomery Center, Vermont, Hill represented Team USA in numerous international meets following her Hall of Fame career at Boston College.
"Kasey is an extraordinary coach with the versatility we need to coach many different events, often at the same time," said head coach
Matt Belfield. "She has demonstrated that she can both develop student-athletes and peak them appropriately for championship season. Professionally, Kasey has been involved in all areas of our program operations by coordinating recruiting, meet management, and being a liaison to so many folks involved with supporting our teams in the building. I am grateful for all the work she does on behalf of our young men and women. I am so pleased for Coach Hill and look forward to the season ahead with her and our teams."
