Men’s Hockey East Preseason Coaches’ Poll Announced

BOSTON – The Vermont men's hockey team has been selected 11th overall in the 2021-22 Hockey East Preseason Coaches' Poll. The league made the announcement on Monday afternoon.

Reigning Hockey East champions UMass received 107 points and eight first place votes. Boston University (95 pts.), Boston College (89 pts.), Northeastern (86 pts.) and Providence (75 pts.) rounded out the top five.

The Catamounts begin the season with seven-straight home games in October. After facing Mercyhurst on Saturday UVM welcomes non-conference foes Colgate (October 8-9), Quinnipiac (October 16) and RPI (October 23) before turning to conference play. UVM will host Boston College on Friday, October 29 and Saturday October 30 at 7 p.m. to start their Hockey East campaign.

The Hockey East men's tournament will return to an all-in format after a two-year departure with single elimination games in each round. Seeds six, seven and eight will host seeds 11, 10 and nine in the Opening Round scheduled for Wednesday, March 9.

After a reseeding, the top three seeds will host the winners of the Opening Round while the four seed will host the five seed in the Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 12. For the first time since 2019, the Hockey East Men's Championship Semifinals and Final will return to the TD Garden in Boston on March 18-19, 2022.

WINTER 2021 FAN & VISITOR POLICY
UVM Athletics is excited to welcome fans back to Gutterson Fieldhouse this year. The University of Vermont is now requiring anyone in a campus building to wear a face covering - regardless of vaccination status. The policy went into effect on August 5 to aid in protecting our community from the spread of COVID-19.
 
In order to ensure the safety of students, staff and the community, UVM is now also expecting that all vaccine eligible visitors to campus, including fans attending athletic events, will be fully vaccinated.
 
Due to the ongoing health and safety protocols concessions will be closed for the time being. No outside food will be permitted but fans are allowed to bring a reusable water bottle.
