COACH'S QUOTE
"Outstanding total team effort tonight starting with Gabe Carriere," Head Coach Todd Woodcroft said. "Our first period was slow and we looked sluggish for the first third of the game. However, in the second and third periods we got close to the playoff identity that we are trying to build. Our defensive game was impressive and we didn't stray from our mission which was to frustrate BU as much as possible through our work ethic. Great performance from Gabe Carriere and kudos to Timofei Spitserov for scoring his first NCAA goal."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • After coming out strong in the first period and outshooting UVM 14-3 the Terriers were rewarded with the first goal of the contest with 3:48 left in the opening frame. Matt Brown wrapped around the back of the Vermont net before finding Robert Mastrosimone alone on the door step with a tape-to-tape pass. Mastrosimone was able to tap home his seventh goal of the season before Carriere or UVM's defense could respond.
  • Just 2:07 into the second period San Jose Sharks draft pick Timofei Spitserov chose the perfect time for his first collegiate goal. With traffic in front of BU's Drew Commesso Spitserov picked the top corner with a wrist shot from the slot. Spitserov's first was assisted by Luke Mountain and Simon Jellus.
  • After the Spitserov tally the Terriers maintained pressure on the Catamounts but Carriere was up to the task. Over the final two periods BU outshot Vermont 28-15 but couldn't solve the sophomore goaltender again.
  • 1:03 into overtime BU's Jay O'Brien almost won the game for the Terriers. He made a Vermont defender miss in the slot and skated in alone on Carriere. Carriere moved laterally and denied the chance to give UVM a chance for the game-winner.
  • Dallas Comeau setup the game-winner with a well-placed wrist shot that Commesso had to blocker aside, the rebound bounced in front of the net and Lemay beat BU's Mastrosimone to the puck and tapped it home for UVM's second overtime winner of the season. Robbie Stucker also earned an assist on the game-winner.
