BURLINGTON, Vt. – Women's hockey graduate student
Theresa Schafzahl, who is pursuing her Certificate of Graduate Study in Community Resilience & Planning, is our TD Bank Student-Athlete of the Week for the period ending October 9.
Schafzahl scored three goals this weekend for the Catamounts in their weekend series at Holy Cross. With her first goal Sunday afternoon, she set a new program record for points with 106. She surpassed Amanda Pelkey (2011-15), the U.S. Olympic Gold medalist, who owned the record previously at 105 points. Schafzahl needs five assists to pass Pelkey (56) for the all-tine assists record. With five goals this season Schafzahl is tied for the lead in Division 1 for goals. With seven points (5 Gl, 2 Ast) she is also tied for the team lead in scoring.
The 15th-ranked Catamounts return home this weekend to Gutterson Fieldhouse to face No. 14 UConn in a two-game series. It will be the first time in regular season program history a ranked Catamounts squad will host another ranked team. Faceoff is set for 6 p.m. on Friday night and 3 p.m. on Saturday afternoon.
The weekend's action will air live on ESPN+. The games will also be available on a pay-per-view basis internationally at
