COACH'S QUOTE
"This weekend really built comradery for the team," head coach
Kate Pfeifer said. "Seeing different players get opportunities and hearing the bench get behind those players – they are really in this for each other and it's nice to see the hard work pay off for everyone."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Right from the opening whistle the Cats applied pressure offensively as Alina Gerke tested Stonehill keeper Shannon Conte (11 saves) 22 seconds into the game.
- Vermont took a first-quarter lead on Kate Hall's fifth goal of the season. She swiped a Meg Weyer pass out of the air and into the cage for a 1-0 UVM advantage.
- Maddie Moran was the story of the second quarter. The fifth-year senior scored twice – once on a deft deflection on a Gerke drive and another after a great entry feed from Weyer. Moran leads the team with six goals this season.
- Olivia Nolan got in on the fun in the third quarter. Weyer once again got the ball into the circle and found a streaking Nolan along the far side. She one-timed the pass into the cage for her first career goal and to give the Cats a 4-0 lead.
- The Vermont defense stood tall all afternoon. UVM's defense did not allow a single shot or penalty corner.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- Sierra Espeland posted a shutout for the 12th time in her career – the third most all-time at UVM.
- With today's win, Vermont Mutual Insurance Group will donate $100 to COTS, the Committee on Temporary Shelter, as part of the Cats Win, Community Wins initiative.
