BURLINGTON, Vt. – Nearing the close of a competitive fall season, the Vermont men's lacrosse program has elected captains.
Head coach
Chris Feifs announced a group of four veterans –
Nick Alviti,
Jackson Canfield,
David Closterman and
Tim Manning – was chosen by teammates to lead the group in 2023.

Alviti played and starred in all 19 games last season while setting a program record for caused turnovers in a single season (32). He led the country in goals by an LSM with eight and was named to the America East All-Conference First Team and All-Tournament Team.
Canfield returned to the field in 2022 after missing the majority of the 2021 season and made an immediate impact on the close defense unit. He caused 20 turnovers – the 5
th-most in a season at UVM – and was also selected to the All-Conference First Team.
Closterman enters his fifth year in Burlington ranked sixth all-time in assists and is fresh off his best season in Green and Gold. He posted 65 points last season including a team-high 36 assists and was named to the All-Conference First Team and the All-Tournament Team.
Manning has been a staple in the close defense unit since his freshman season and has started every game each of the last three seasons. He finished last year with 17 ground balls and eight caused turnovers while anchoring a stout UVM defense.
Vermont will open the 2023 season in early February. The complete schedule will be released at a later date.
