COACH'S QUOTE
"On the back of Gabe Carriere with a 42-save performance, we found a way to win in the shootout," Head Coach Todd Woodcroft said. "We are happy with most parts of our game and that we did not give up a five-on-five goal against this whole weekend to keep us undefeated in three games. On to a hard weekend versus Lowell next Friday."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Catamounts opened the scoring for the third straight contest with Määttä's second goal of the season. On the forecheck, Jacques Bouquot forced a turnover behind the Colgate net and puck deflected in front. Määttä had time to gather the loose puck and take a look before firing home the tally at the 8:50 mark.
  • Colgate had its only two power plays of the contest in the second period and capitalized amongst a flurry of activity on their second opportunity. Ross Mitton one-timed a feed from Alex DiPaolo in the slot and Carriere padded it aside but Mitton was first to the rebound and stashed it home with a quick backhand for his second tally of the season.
  • UVM outshout Colgate 12-10 in the third period but neither team was able to score a go-ahead tally.
  • In overtime Carriere made four stops for the Catamounts including a breakaway attempt from Colton Young 38 seconds into the extra session.
  • In the shootout Zapernick started things off for the Catamounts after an initial stop by Carriere on Colgate's first shooter. Zapernick's wrist shot hit the post and bounced off his AJHL teammate Carter Gylander and in for the Catamounts.
  • Levi Glasman was the Raiders second shooter and Carriere tracked him all the way before making another stop. Stucker won the shootout for Vermont with a great move. He faked left, skated to his right, and calmly put it in five-hole on Gylander as he tried to stay with Stucker.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • In his last four games Gabe Carriere has stopped 101 of the 104 shots he's faced, good for a .971 save percentage.
  • Dating back to last season (at UNH, at Maine) Vermont has won its last three shootouts.
  • William Lemay and Joe Leahy were tied for the team lead with three blocked shots apiece.
  • With tonight's 1-1 tie, Community Bank N.A. will donate $75 to Special Olympics Vermont. Community Bank, N.A. donates $75 per goal to Special Olympics Vermont for every goal the men's and women's team scores this season.
