Alisa Kresge declared that a trio of seniors on this year's squad,
Emma Utterback,
Delaney Richason and
Carly Whiteside, will serve as co-captains for the Catamounts.

Emma Utterback led the Catamounts in scoring, assists, steals, and minutes played last season. During her 2021-22 campaign Utterback averaged 13.5 points, 3.9 assists and 1.4 steals across 32.5 minutes per contest. Logged her season-high in points with 25 against UMass Lowell on February 26. She almost notched a double-double against UMass netting 12 points and nine assists in 36 minutes of action. Utterback was selected to the America East All-Conference First Team thanks to her play. During her first-year season she was named to the All-Conference Rookie Team as well.
Delaney Richason was a key contributor to Vermont's success last season averaging 9.8 points, second on the team with 4.3 rebounds and second with 1.1 blocks per game. Richason was second on the team with 38 three pointers made shooting 32.5 percent from behind the arc. Notched her career-high with 19 points against UMass Lowell on February 26. As a shooter, she netted a season-high three shots from behind the arc on four separate occasions. She also almost recorded a double-double against Hartford finishing with 14 points and eight rebounds in 28 minutes of action. Tied her career-high with 12 rebounds at Navy on November 20.
Carly Whiteside has been a fundamental part of the Catamounts program for four seasons. During her 2021-22 season, she saw action in eight games, grabbing multiple rebounds on two occasions. She also scored in three of those eight performances with her season-high in minutes coming with 11 against UMass. A low post threat, Whiteside will look to contribute in the paint and on the glass. She was named to the America East Academic Honor Roll in 2019-2020 and the America East Commissioner's Honor Roll twice (2019-2020 and 2021-22).
Vermont finished last season 20-11, for their first 20-win season since 2009-10 when they made it to the NCAA Second Round. The Cats' finished 13-5 in the America East, which was the first winning season in conference play since 2009-10 and matched the tally of 13 wins from that season. UVM earned the three seed in the America East and made it to the AE semifinals before falling to eventual AE champion UAlbany.
The Catamounts will open their season with a road trip to Indiana. There, UVM will face Indiana (a 2021-22 Elite Eight NCAA Tournament team) on November 8 and Miami (OH) on November 11. The Indiana game is slated to start at 7 p.m. and will be streamed on B1G+. Vermont's first home game will come on Tuesday, November 15 at 6 p.m. against AIC. That game will be broadcast live on ESPN+ or ESPN3.
