BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Catamounts cruised to a 158-87 victory over Merrimack at Forbush Natatorium on Saturday afternoon, winning every event. With the victory Vermont improves to 1-1 on the young season and Merrimack falls to 0-1 after their first meet.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Vermont got off to a hot start Saturday afternoon winning the first event of the day, the 200 medley relay. Sarah Doherty, Natalie Schlemmer, Jenny O'Neil and Cailin Campbell finished in a time of 1:51.27.
- O'Neil was also a part of the winning team in the 400 freestyle relay. Autumn Bullinger, Emily Rygula, Anna Shoudt and O'Neil won, finishing in a time of 3:42.31.
- Emily Rocco finished first in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 10:48.44 clearing the field by at least eight seconds. Dayle Snively finished in second for the Catamounts with a time of 10:57.24.
- Ella Church earned another victory on the season taking the 200 freestyle in a time of 1:55.95, with Cailin Campbell coming in second finishing in 2:01.64.
- Emma Wainwright took home her first collegiate win in dominating fashion, winning the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.27, a full three seconds ahead of the field.
- Lilly Acker won her first collegiate competition taking the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:09.21.
- Katherine Morrissey earned her first individual win of the season taking the 200 fly in a time of 2:17.44.
- Jackie House earned another first place finish on the season winning the 50 free in a time of 24.72.
- Mina Poppas earned two first place finishes on the day taking home the 500 free and the 100 free. She finished with a time of 53.44 in the 100 and 5:12.24 in the 500.
- Natalie Schlemmer came away with another first place finish in her second meet, winning the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:26.34.
- Alexis Torykian earned her first collegiate victory in the 200 backstroke edging out Emily Dussault by almost nine seconds. Torykian finished in 2:13.32.
- Cassie Woodson earned her first victory on the season taking home the 100 fly in a time of 59.59.
- Kara Campbell won in a landslide in the 200 IM finishing 13 seconds ahead of the rest of the field with a time of 2:11.44.
UP NEXT
The Catamounts will travel to New Jersey for a meet with UMBC and St. Francis at NJIT on Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15. Friday night's meet is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. and Saturday's meet is slated to start at 11 a.m.
