SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale has opened up the season with five straight wins, including a championship at the Rainbow Classic in Honolulu. Matt Knowling scored 18 points to lead the Bulldogs to a 62-59 victory over the host, Hawaii in the title game. Knowling has a team-high 19.8 scoring average, which includes a 69.8% field goal percentage. The junior shoots 34.7% of Yale's shots, which is the 35th-highest rate in the country. Isaiah Kelly leads his squad on the glass, picking up 4.8 rebounds per game. The 6-7 forward has a team-high seven blocks on the season. The Bulldogs defeated John Jay 112-55 in their most recent outing on Sunday (Nov. 20). Yale was selected No. 3, with three first-place votes, in the Ivy League Preseason Poll.

INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts and Bulldogs square off for the 33rd time in series history and the first time in New Haven since 2019. Vermont is 15-17 in the all-time series, and is looking to register two straight wins over Yale. The Cats took a 61-53 victory at Patrick Gym a season ago, with Ryan Davis scoring 19 points in a defensive battle. UVM has won four of the last five meetings with Yale.

IVY STREAK
Vermont is looking to extend its winning streak against Ivy League foes, which is currently at five games. The Catamounts opened up the season with an 80-65 victory over Brown at Patrick Gym. UVM defeated Yale (W, 61-53), Dartmouth (W, 83-65), and Brown (W, 70-65) last season, and took a 77-68 victory at Dartmouth to start 2020. Vermont's last loss to an Ivy League opponent came in 2019 when the Bulldogs, took a 65-52 victory over the Catamounts in New Haven.

STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE
UVM's strength of schedule through five games is ranked No. 40 in the nation by ESPN. The Catamounts have the toughest schedule among America East schools, with Binghamton in second (No. 133). UVM will face its fourth NCAA Tournament team of the season when it faces Yale.

LOGGING MILES
Vermont continues its eight-game road trip, entering its fifth consecutive game away from Burlington. The Catamounts have spent 11 of the last 13 days on the road, and will continue a stretch of 19-of-21 days on the road, which started on Nov. 8.

NASSAU CHAMPIONSHIP
UVM's next stop will be in The Bahamas, as the Catamounts will compete in the Nassau Championship for the first time since the 2017-18 campaign. Vermont was victorious in the tournament hosted at Baha Mar, with victories over Bradley (W, 65-64), Coastal Carolina (W, 80-67), and Northern Kentucky (W, 66-64). Former voice of the Catamounts, Sam Hyman, will be on the call as FloHoops broadcasts the 2022 Nassau Championship.
